Maruschka Detmers comes from Schoonebeek, Holland. 9 days before Christmas this year, the actress will turn 48. Early years of her life she spent in her home country, before relocating next door to France in her teens. She appeared in over 35 movies and TV shows (not all in English), but what got her career of the ground was a role in Prenom Carmen (Carmen X – ’83).

Next couple of years were really busy for her, including La Pirate (’83), for which she was nominated by Cesar Awards in the Best Supporting Actress category. Her first English movie – The Mambo Kings (’92) as well as Kings for a Day, five years later, gave her recognition outside of Europe.

Devil in the Flash (’86) Hanna’s War (’88) are possibly her most recognizable movies for English speaking audiences. Speaking 3 European languages also saw her star in few German movies including Robert Zimmerman wundert sich uber die Liebe (Robert Zimmerman is in Love – ’08) and Manner lugen nicht, with the last one coming out this year.

Her good looks and popularity saw her on the front pages of magazines across Europe, from the start of her career until now, as well as 2 appearances in Playboy for 2 years in a row (’86 and ’87) and also 2 appearances in Celebrity Sleuth at the end of eighties and beginning of nineties.

Adopting France as her new homeland, she now resides there and has only one child who also wishes to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Maruschka Detmers’ career started off thanks to Jean-Luc Godard who got her her first appearance in front of the camera and she hasn’t looked back. Apart from appearing mainly in movies, she also got up on stage 3 years ago in France.
